Alaska May 26-June 4

We arrived in Prince Rupert from our trip home to see Billy Joel - what a great concert!  We are so glad we went home as in addition to a great concert, we also got to spend time with the family and we also got caught up on work since we were home for 2 weeks.

Back in Prince Rupert, we met with Aussie Diesel on Monday the 27th to go over the install of our new inverter system that went out just as we were leaving to fly home.  We highly recommend Aussie Diesel if you ever find yourself needing boat work when you are in Port McNeill.  They were fantastic to work with and got us up and running again just in time to continue our journey north.  Don Janus on North Star arrived with Pete Jung along to help him take his boat north and we headed out on the 28th for what was 5 very long days to get to Ketchikan to beat out a storm. We went from Port McNeill to Narrows Bay in Fish Egg Inlet, Rescue Bay, Lowe Inlet, Prince Rupert and finally Ketchikan - 308 miles of cruising in not nice conditions with rain, wind and low cloud ceiling.  We have always loved the ride up thru Northern BC with the snow capped mountains, expansive vistas and beautiful waterfalls but with the weather we could not see much of the beauty around us - just a long slog! We have had a few breaks in the weather and have had dolphins around the boat and Orca off in the distance along with many eagles.

After spending 2 nights in Ketchikan to re-provision we left on June 3 to go to the North of Behm Canal - Shrimp/Klu bay where we finally met up with the other RHYC boats - Miners Debt (Tom and Chris Miner), Wanetta (Greg and Martha Otto), Butterduck(Greig and Leslie Olson) and Euphoria (Jim Wagenblast and Lori Booth).  We are staying put today June 4 as the weather is terrible again - rain and wind - but we are all getting together tonight on Nelsea for a Taco Tuesday and catch up with everyone about the trip so far.

Not many pictures this time but not sure you would want many more rainy pictures.  We know that you are facing the same conditions at home in many cases and here is hoping that the weather clears up for all of us!

One of the nicest days we had on the trip North from Prince Rupert. It changed by the time we got to our destination for the night.

With all the rain the double waterfall in Shrimp Bay was really flowing!
